CHEMICAL STRUCTURE |
Aromatic Polyester Resin CGZ-351 is
homopolymers based on P-oxybenxol repeat units and are linear thermoplastics with
molecular structure as follows :
Chemical Name: POLY-P-OXYBENXOATE ; P-OXYBENXOYL
HOMOPOLYESTER |
CAS No: 26099-71-8
|
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
|
1. Excellent thermal stability
Decomposition Temperature : 530 OC
No softening below 400 OC
Continuous work temp. 300 OC
|
2. Outstanding wear resistance and
self lubrication
Similar to graphite, MoS2, it has
extraordinary self-lubricating performance. The kinetic friction coefficient is 0.16 -
0.32 that achieves lubricant-free lubrication. It is with good resistance to wear and
without hurt at counter surface of friction pair in working and also with good resistance
to compression wriggle.
|
3. Good thermal conductivity as well
as dielectric properties
Its thermal conductivity is 3 -5 times to
other plastics such as PTFE and the dielectric properties is also good.
- Volume resistivity 1.2 X 1017
Ohm.cm
- Dielectric loss tangent 3.5 - 6.4 X 10-3
|
4. Excellent solvent resistance
Insoluble in most organic solvents even under
heating (with the exception of concentrated sulfuric acid and strong alkalis).
|
5. Resistance to radiation |
6. Easily processing
The Aromatic Polyester powder is easy to be
processed, and widely used in the areas of machinery, electronics and electric
equipment.

APPLICATIONS
|
- In light industry and chemical industry
- Used as lubricant-free bearings, piston rings,
pads, sealing packings etc. working at high temperature, or under water / or in moisture
and vapor.
- Compounded with PTFE powder to make bridge
slides.
|
- In electronics, electric equipment and instruments
industries
Heat-resistant plugs,
sockets, spools, motor parts, printed circuit boards. Due to its excellent thermal
conductivity as well as insulation properties, the parts of Aromatic Polyester powder is
able to efficiently remove the heat generated in electronics' operation so that
avoid damages from part overheat
|
- Blends of Aromatic Polyester Powder could be sprayed
and form wearable coat on moving parts, which can dramatically elongate the coated parts'
life and improve the working efficiency. Besides, Aromatic Polyester could be used in
lubricant-free coating, anti-corrosion coating and anti-stick coating.

TYPICAL PROCESSING
METHODS
|
|
1. Heat moulding
Moulding conditions: 360 OC
- 400 OC under pressure of 400 - 1000 KG/cm2
for 3 -5 minutes.
With good mechinability, the molded articles
could be further machined into mechanical parts. Fillers, such as Al2O3,
short-cut carbon fabric, short - cut glass fabric, can be used to improve its strength.
The finished articles of Aromatic Polyester
Powder or of the resin with fillers are mainly used as heat-resistant insulators,
self-lubricating bearings resistant to heat and wear, and radiation-resistant parts.
|
2. Cold moulding
The CGZ-351 Resin could be compounded
with PTFE resin in any proportion and can be molded like PTFE resin. The CGZ-351 / PTFE
composite integrate the two materials' advantages and overcome PTFE's shortage
of poor wear resistance and cold wriggle. Testing data show that PTFE filled with 20 - 30
% Aromatic Polyester Resin has much higher maximum PV value than pure PTFE and Aromatic
Polyester powder. Blending with Aromatic Polyester Powder can greatly improve PTFE's
compression set , compressive strength, wear resistance while the friction
coefficient remains.
The process includes following steps:
- Blending the two materials to make fine
composition. Recommended Aromatic Polyester powder's proportion is 20 - 30 %. Other
fillers could be used according to applications. Normally used are molybdenum disulfide,
graphite, glass fabric, carbon fiber, bronze powder, etc..
- Moulding pressure 400 - 1000 KG/cm2
- Sintering temperature around 375 OC.
Sintering time depends on article's thickness.
|
3. spray coating |
4. Dispersion coating
Similar to PTFE, Aromatic
Polyester can also be used in dispersion coating that achieve better wear resistance and
friction properties than pure PTFE. Besides, the Aromatic Polyester dispersion forms
thicker coat layer in every single operation than PTFE that lead to shorter operating
cycle and lower cost. The Aromatic Polyester dispersion is made by dispersing
Aromatic Polyester powder in PTFE suspension.
The process includes following steps:
- Pre-treat the surface to be coated.
- Coat the surface with organic
fluoride as ground coat
- After drying and sintering the ground coat,
proceed to Aromatic Polyester dispersion coating .Repeat the operation until reaching the
required coating thickness.
- Recommendation:
Drying condition: 90 - 100 OC , 30 minutes .
Sintering condition: 380 OC , 15 minutes
